Windsor Eatery Fined For Poor Food Hygiene

April 22, 2014

A Windsor Chinese restaurant has been fined for breaching food hygiene regulations.

Owner of Nell Gwynn Chinese Restaurant in Church Lane, Zheng Zhuang, was personally fined £500 and his company – Golden Spring Restaurants Ltd – £2,500 for five breaches.

When inspectors visited the restaurant they found evidence of rats – droppings were seen behind the fridge and on the steps leading to the basement where food and rice cookers were stored. There was also generally a poor level of cleanliness and the owner did not know the difference between detergent and disinfectant.

Zheng Zhuang voluntarily closed the restaurant for six days and undertook all the recommendations made to him.
