Oldham Company Director Fined For Food Hygiene Offences

April 12, 2014

An Oldham company director has pleaded guilty to a number of food hygiene offences.

Saqander Hussain of Gold Star, Union Street, was fined £300 for each of the six charges as well as £1,600 in costs. When Environmental health inspectors visited the takeaway they found mouse droppings in boxes of food and the walk in fridge not working. There was a build-up of grease on shelving and floors. Inspectors also had to call out a utility company over fears of a gas leak.

The takeaway sells pizzas, burgers and kebabs and was closed after the inspection in August 2013. It has since reopened following a kitchen deep clean.

Inspectors have revisited the premises and standards have improved.
