Lowest Possible Hygiene Ratings For Somerset Eateries

March 6, 2014

Several eateries in Weston, Somerset, have received the lowest possible hygiene mark from food inspectors.

Concerns were raised at four food establishments over raw meat contamination, mould and lack of hand washing. Other reasons included the build of grease in kitchens, filthy fridges and refrigeration at twice the legal maximum.

The takeaway and restaurants have been ordered to improve. North Somerset Council has threatened further action over premises which received poor hygiene ratings.

The Food Standards Agency provides information of all ratings given on its website.

A further 31 food establishments in Somerset received a hygiene rating of one which requires that ‘major improvement is necessary’.
