Filthy Conditions Found At East Yorkshire Restaurant

April 6, 2014

Filthy conditions have been found at an East Yorkshire eatery. When food hygiene inspectors visited The Thali Indian restaurant in Pocklington they discovered raw and cooked meat being kept next to each other. They also found no soap for workers to wash their hands.

Poppadoms were seen next to rubbish bins and on a sink connected to an extractor fan there were shish kebabs. The restaurant was giving a food hygiene rating of 0 which means that urgent improvement is needed.

Owners Syed Muthekin and Mohammed Shofi Ahmed were each fined £8,933 by Beverley Magistrates’ Court in April 2014 after admitting to seven offences of failing to comply with food hygiene regulations.
