Stark Warning For Commercial Deep Cleaning In Merseyside To Be Done After Liverpool Fire
Liverpool’s new panoramic restaurant on the 34th floor of the Beetham West Tower is claimed to be the highest restaurant in the UK. On a clear day diners can enjoy spectacular views across Merseyside and even North West Wales.
The 90m (300ft) tower is equipped with a range of fire prevention systems including a wet riser – a series of values and pipe work kept permanently charged with water – and sprinklers.
Despite these safety measures a blaze broke out in the restaurant’s kitchen in October 2010. Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident but nearly two dozen people had to evacuated. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to just the kitchen area, preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the building.
Kitchen fires are the most common causes of fires in the UK with the build-up of grease being one of the biggest dangers.
There is no clear cause as to why the fire in this case broke out but the incident is a stark reminder to those responsible for commercial kitchens to have professional kitchen deep cleaning programmes in place.
Kitchen deep cleaning – which goes further than regular cleaning – can help prevent fires by the removal of grease. Thorough deep cleaning tackles every surface in a kitchen from floor to ceiling and parts which are out of sight such as grease extract systems. Find out more.
“Until a fire occurs, there are often seldom other clear signs of danger,”says Richard Norman, Managing Director of Indepth Hygiene.
Norman says it’s a legal duty for those responsible for commercial kitchens to have periodic deep cleaning carried out. He says many insurers are also asking to see evidence of this having been done.
It therefore makes total business sense to have deep cleaning done by a professional company regularly. A fire could destroy more than just a business reputation.
